Including these four, 11 people were produced before the tribunal in three cases related to the July Uprising on Sunday morning.

The four accused brought to the tribunal in the Abu Sayeed case are former proctor of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur Shariful Islam, former assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police Amir Hossain, former constable Sujan Chandra Roy and banned organization Chhatra League leader Imran Chowdhury (Akash).

Seven more people have been produced in two other cases related to the July Uprising.

When the movement demanding quota reform in government jobs spread across the country, Abu Sayeed was shot dead at the Park intersection in front of Begum Rokeya University on the afternoon of July 16 last year. Abu Sayeed Begum Rokeya, 25, was a 12th-batch student of the English Department of Rokeya University. She was one of the coordinators of the university’s quota reform movement. When the video of the unarmed Abu Sayeed being shot by the police in front of the university went viral, there was a huge reaction across the country. Many people protested against this killing, which further accelerated the quota reform movement. Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and left the country on August 5 in the face of protests by students and the public in the continuation of that movement.
